Glohaven Community Hub presents the premiere Indigenous Showcase event, featuring Indigenous films, artisans, food and wine! Enrich your mind with these Canadian made films and leave with unique products from Indigenous artists and artisans.
The 1st featured short is “Kiri And The Girl,” based on the experiences of Tlingit artist Kiri Geen (who grew up in Kelowna, BC) as she reconnected to her Indigenous heritage. We follow young Kiri as she navigates the loss of her mother and ultimately finds that some connections never die. Enjoy a talkback session with Kiri Geen and Christopher Logan from Moonchildren Films.
The 2nd featured feature length film is “The Grizzlies,” an inspiring true story based on a group of Inuit students in a small Arctic town struggling with the highest suicide rate in North America; whose lives are transformed when they are introduced to the sport of lacrosse. Enjoy a talkback session with Cody Isaac from North Okanagan Apparel, as he studied this film in university.
Please note this is a licensed 19+ event and the bar will be open with selections from Indigenous World Winery, as well as other beer and ciders.
Enjoy selections of Indigenous food at the concession.
The Indigenous Showcase will be a recurring monthly event, the first Tuesday of every month. Join us in ReconciliACTION… through lights, camera, and... action!
A special thank you to our partners, the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA), Shop First Nations (SFN) and the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC).
